" I'm a Soldier currently in Iraq, I'm not writing to you to ask for a package, but instead to thank you
for what you do. A lot of people don't realize how much a package in the mail can raise our spirits.
Its just one little thing that makes it a little easier over here.
Thank You."

Welcome:

I would like to invite you to come on my journey. This journey
started in October 2004 when my husband, John and I went on a
trip to Washington D.C. This being my first trip there I was very
moved by the Memorials to our fallen soldiers from WWII, Viet Nam,
and Korea. As I walked these memorials, I decided that I wanted to
do something to Support Our Troops who are fighting in Iraq and
Afghanistan. Upon returning home I started "Packages of
Gratitude" and have made a commitment that I would continue this
endeavor until the War is over. I realized that to do what I wanted, I
would need the help and support of friends, neighbors, and others
to accomplish this goal.

I knew that any SSAM receiving a package from home, especially
one from a stranger, would be a morale booster to him/her, and we
wouldn't be strangers for long. What I didn't know was how I would
be forever changed, how much a letter or e-mail from one of my
soldiers would mean to me. Now every day is like Christmas when
the mailman comes and there is a letter marked "free mail" or I open
up my e-mail and there is a "thank you for the package" and
pictures of these " GREAT " SSAMs.

These are SSAMs who are our children, grandchildren, sisters,
brothers, husband and wives have put their lives in harms way to
protect America. I have learned that they are not only soldiers, but
peace makers, helping the people of Iraq and Afghanistan to rebuild
their country. They have helped supply school children with
supplies, orphanages with clothes for the children, helped rebuild
hospitals and given supplies, have rebuilt shopping centers for the
local merchants, but most of all they have shown the people of Iraq
and Afghanistan just what it means to be an American.

So come on this journey by clicking one of the "buttons". Help me
show our Troops just how much America does support them.
God Bless,
Mary Ann Cordova
